Term: April 1, 2008 – March 31, 2009 (full time)
Institute of Population Health, University of Ottawa
The Project Leader will be part of a team working on an update of an existing overview of systematic reviews. This work will be done in collaboration with The Cochrane Consumers and Communication Review Group (CC&CRG) and the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organisation of Care (EPOC) Group. The overview identifies and summarizes existing systematic reviews of interventions to improve evidence based prescribing practice and drug use with two foci: interventions to change professional prescribing and drug use, and interventions to change consumer drug use. The findings are currently presented in an online inventory of interventions database (www.rxforchange.ca).
Requirements include MSc in Epidemiology or equivalent experience. Systematic review experience is strongly recommended. Tasks will include data abstraction, analysis, interpretation, writing up findings and other duties as required.
Interested individuals are invited to contact Alain Mayhew (al.mayhew doesnotexist@cochrane.org uottawa.ca). Full job description is available upon request.
Application deadline: April 24, 2008
The Cochrane Effective Practice and Organisation of Care Group (EPOC) has a vacancy for a full-time Trials Search Coordinator (Information Specialist). This position is located at the Group's editorial base at the University of Ottawa.
The Trials Search Coordinator performs a key information management role and is responsible, under broad direction from the Coordinating Editor, for assisting authors of systematic reviews with the literature search component of their review, for the maintenance and development of the Group’s specialised register (currently comprised of over 6000 studies), and other duties as specified. The Trials Search Coordinator will be part of a network of other Trials Search Coordinators within the Cochrane Collaboration and will work collaboratively in a small team – particularly with the Review Group Coordinator and Coordinating Editor - but with little direction after initial training. This position is open to individuals with a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent.
